Dave’s Market Minute
Hello everyone, this is Dave Tomkow with Cattlemen's Livestock Market in Lakeland, Florida, bringing you your October 21th Market Report.
We had 596 head of cattle through the ring on October 21. The market held mostly steady on calves and was steady to $1 higher on cows and bulls. Overall, the market continues to show good strength and consistency, with no major changes expected in the short term. Even with the recent trade talk between the U.S. and Argentina knocking the board back a bit, it didn’t affect prices in the sale ring this week.
We’re hopeful to see things bump back up next week, but for now, the market looks solid.
As we move into cooler weather, remember, grass has stopped growing and things are dry in our area. Now’s the time to stay on top of your nutrition and health programs, especially if you’re holding larger calves.
Some areas to the south and east are still seeing plenty of rain, but around Lakeland, we’re dry and hoping for more moisture before winter sets in.
📅 Upcoming Sale Reminder:
Our Fall Heifer & Bull Sale is coming up on October 31st at 1 PM. We're expecting around 150 head of heifers and young cows, plus 50 head of stout Charolais bulls from Volborn, Whiting, OHillco, and Leport Farms. It's going to be a strong offering of top-quality cattle.
