Strong Demand for VAC Calves as the Cattle Market Holds Steady

It was another good week at Cattlemen’s Livestock Market in Lakeland, Florida, with right at 600 head of cattle coming through the ring.

According to Dave Tomkow, the overall market was steady to higher, with particularly strong demand for VAC calves. Buyers showed plenty of interest in these consignments, helping keep the feeder calf market strong.

The cow and bull markets remained relatively steady. While butcher cow prices have backed off from a month ago, they're still bringing good money. The calf market has also worked its way back up, and although prices aren't quite at their previous highs, demand remains strong.
