This week at Cattlemen’s Livestock Auction Market in Lakeland, Florida, we sold 300 head of cattle, with the market staying steady to stronger across both cows and calves.

Calves continue to bring strong demand. The high calf this week hit $7.10 per pound on a 195-pound calf, dollaring out at just over $1,300. The high overall calf brought $2,535, showing buyers are still willing to pay for quality.

On the cow side, the high cow brought $1.80 per pound and weighed 1,175 pounds, while the top cow in total dollars reached $2,640. Bulls were also strong, topping out around $2.03–$2.05 per pound, with the high bull bringing $3,146.

Overall, the market is trending steadily to $10–$15 higher. There’s been some talk about pressure in outside markets and global uncertainty, but right now, supply is keeping prices supported and not letting the market back off.

Spring is starting to show up across Florida. We’ve had some rain, grass is greening up, and temperatures are warming. That said, don’t get caught slipping. Keep protein in front of your cattle and stay ahead of your nutrition program. If we don’t stay on top of it now, you’ll feel it going into summer.

We’re heading into that stretch where what you do between now and June will determine how your cattle perform the rest of the year.

A healthy calf is a high-dollar calf.

Staying on top of minerals, salt, vaccinations, and overall management can make a real difference when it comes time to sell.

As always, thank you to our producers, buyers, and everyone in between who trusts our family with their cattle marketing.
